TRENCH COAT DRESS: CHRISTMAS GROWING UP X LESSONS LEARNT IN 2018

They are coming back 23rd of December !!!

“They” My Older Siblings.

These words filled me with excitement, that can’t be expressed in words. I remember always looking forward to the date, washing the bathrooms, checking the calendar, cleaning everywhere days to the D Day .
If you have been here for long, you would know I have 8 siblings.
It’s Christmas Eve and everyone is back!!! . We are all in the sitting room laughing, remembering the good old times and the things we did. After returning from church, my mum goes, “go make tea to take with Irish Cream Wine” so we don’t get tipsy, mixing flours and other ingredients for making Chin Chin. The shape and color of the wine is still vivid in my brain. Waking up 8am on Christmas Day after the usual devotion, the table and knifes are clean and set for cutting the dough with each child in position sitting around a big table. My dad comes down and all he does is smile and bring up random conversations. My sisters are up cooking rice, some cutting vegetables in the sitting room.  Everyone is here and there doing something. It’s around 2pm we are all seated at the dinner table and eating as a Family.
But things are way different now, some are in school, others are in different parts of the world, few are married and the rest are back home. I so look forward to the Christmas where everyone would be around, not just siblings but my nephews and nieces too. Can’t Wait!!!

It’s a week and 2 days to End 2018.

Lessons learnt:

  • Love and forgive yourself

If God can still love you despite your mistakes, Why can’t you? If you can’t love yourself, how will you be able to receive his love?

  • Only you can change you

It is an inner decision you have to make yourself, no one can. Someone once said “If you are not ready to be moved or changed, no matter how powerful the words are they will not move or change you”.

  • One day at a time

Whatever you desire to change about yourself or to train yourself to do well, remember it takes time. It took Messi 17 years and 114 days to become an overnight success. I like to go back to people’s old music videos or movies and old Instagram posts , to see how far they have come and where they are now. Be patient with your self/growth . “Soon You Will Get There.”

  • Mind

The things you tell yourself, is important. Do something that contradicts those limiting paradigm.

  • God listens to you

You need to find the way he speaks to you and be real with him like you are to your best pal.

Remember to love yourself, your life and where you are, but be willing to improve.

Merry Christmas And Happy New Year In Advance.

XOXO.

Victory.
